They all get the same rank.<\/p>\n<p>That might sound like an efficient way to report data. Every link inside is tagged with the same ranking.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Clicks<\/b>: Clicking any link inside the overview is recorded as a click.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Impressions<\/b>: A link doesn\u2019t count unless it\u2019s scrolled into view or expanded by the user.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There\u2019s more. The data includes nothing from Google\u2019s Search Labs, where new layouts and experiments are being tested. So if your site is featured in one of those tests, you won\u2019t see it in your reports at all.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"the-data-gap-that-wont-go-away\"><\/span><b>The Data Gap That Won\u2019t Go Away<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Google has asserted for a long time that AI Overviews benefit websites by increasing clicks and enhancing visibility. Yet, evidence supporting this claim remains elusive.<\/p>\n<p>Lily Ray recently called that claim into question. The numbers look great, but the impact is unclear.
