That is not science fiction but where we are today.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>For example, in astrophysics, there is a massive amount of data collected by telescopes and space observatories.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But there are not enough human scientists to analyze it all. Sam believes AI can fill that gap and possibly discover new planets, new types of stars or even unknown physical laws by analyzing patterns that humans can\u2019t easily see.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou can\u2019t say, \u2018Hey, GPT, figure out new physics\u2019 and expect it to work today,\u201d Altman clarified. \u201cBut as a co-pilot, it\u2019s already happening. With AI, they can:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">Research trending keywords and customer pain points<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">Design logos and packaging<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">Write compelling product descriptions<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">Find a supplier via email<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">Launch an e-commerce website<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">Run ads with AI-generated copy and visuals<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201cSome are already putting $1 into AI and getting it to run a toy business that actually works,\u201d Sam said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Altman called this the \u201cone-dollar-to-a-business\u201d model\u2014put in a prompt and you might just get a real, profitable side hustle out.<\/p>\n<p>People are already doing it on small scales and as AI improves, it will become easier and more common.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"are-humanoid-robots-closer-than-we-think\"><\/span><b>Are humanoid robots closer than we think?<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Sam also talked about something that seems straight out of sci-fi\u2014humanoid robots powered by AI that walk, work and live among us.<\/p>\n<p>He believes we are 5 to 10 years away from having functional, reliable <a href=\"https:\/\/builtin.com\/robotics\/humanoid-robots\">humanoid robots<\/a> in our daily environments. That future is not far off.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"will-the-world-feel-different-even-with-superintelligent-ai\"><\/span><b>Will the world feel different even with superintelligent AI?<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Here is a question Altman raised that is as unsettling as it is fascinating: what if we create a 400-IQ superintelligent AI&#8230; and nothing really changes?\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s possible that we have crazy superintelligence and yet people are still working the same way, living the same lives,\u201d he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Despite the enormous capabilities of ChatGPT and other models, the world has largely remained visually unchanged.\u00a0 People still go to offices, attend meetings and browse social media.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Even as AI tools are integrated into workflows, their transformative power has not hit the feeling level of everyday life.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This paradox may reflect human adaptability. Like how we adjusted to smartphones or the internet transformative tools that we now take for granted and superintelligence may just become \u201cbackground magic\u201d in our daily lives.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"will-ai-destroy-jobs-or-create-new-ones\"><\/span><b>Will AI destroy jobs or create new ones?<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Altman does not mince words about the job market.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA lot of jobs will go away. A lot will change dramatically,\u201d he said. \u201cBut I don\u2019t believe we\u2019ll run out of things to do.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The shift won\u2019t be unlike previous transitions from agricultural to industrial, then to digital. Today, we have YouTubers, data annotators and TikTok strategists roles that were unimaginable decades ago.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Altman believes new status games and creative economies will emerge.<\/p>\n<p>But he acknowledges the transition won\u2019t be smooth. For example, customer service roles are already being automated and logistics, accounting and coding are close behind.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Still, he is optimistic: \u201cPeople always find new ways to be useful to each other. That never runs out.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"is-openai-building-a-personal-ai-companion-for-everyday-life\"><\/span><b>Is OpenAI building a personal AI companion for everyday life?<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Altman revealed that OpenAI is working on an AI companion which is a helpful digital assistant that lives across your devices and truly understands you.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This AI will:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">Know your preferences<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">Help you plan your day<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">Assist with tasks across apps and devices<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">Learn from your habits and offer support<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It won\u2019t just live inside a chatbot. It might work across your car, smartwatch, home devices or even new hardware that has not been invented yet.<\/p>\n<p>The goal? A trusted, proactive assistant that helps you get more done with less stress.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"is-meta-trying-to-catch-up-but-is-openais-culture-the-key-advantage\"><\/span><b>Is Meta trying to catch up, but is OpenAI&#8217;s culture the key advantage?<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>During the conversation, Sam discussed Meta\u2019s attempts to poach OpenAI talent with $100 million signing bonuses. So far, none of OpenAI\u2019s top talent has left.<\/p>\n<p>Why? Altman credits it to mission-driven culture.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou don\u2019t build a culture of innovation by copying your competitors,\u201d he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He said that OpenAI prioritizes long-term purpose over short-term rewards and that\u2019s what attracts top minds who want to create something meaningful.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"what-does-all-this-mean-for-the-rest-of-us\"><\/span><b>What does all this mean for the rest of us?<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>So, what do we do with all this?<\/p>\n<p>According to Sam Altman, we are on the edge of a new age where AI creates, builds and even understands. But that does not mean humans become obsolete.
