Founded by Angela Ardolino in 2018, CBD Dog Health is an e-commerce website dedicated to selling CBD-enriched hemp oil to treat medical issues in pets, especially dogs.
When launched in June 2018, the website had fewer than 500 visitors per month. This, however, was a good start as most newbie websites go through a dry phase during the initial months after the launch.
What made CBD Dog Health unique was the target audience and the products that they sold. At the time, almost no online suppliers sold safe, vegan, non-GMO, full-spectrum CBD formulated specifically for dogs. With a USP that guaranteed success in the long run, Ardolino and her team started adding new products and improvising on the website.
The first breakthrough happened in January 2020, when Google, for the first time, identified the significance of the website and gave it the much-needed ranking boost. However, what followed was a rocky phase of ranking volatility.
From an average of 9K+ organic users per month, the website nosedived to just around 3K mark. This trend continued until CBD Dog Health found Stan Ventures as their most trusted SEO partner.
With the rankings going down and the sales dropping due to low organic traffic, the team at CBD Dog Health was looking for an agency partner who could identify what went wrong and develop strategies to push their organic traffic to the next level.
To understand what went wrong, our team here at Stan Ventures did a detailed website audit that included on-page, content and backlink audits.
The insights we got from these audits helped us develop a custom, fully managed SEO package for CBD Dog Health.
Our team identified that the product pages were not optimized for the right CBD keywords, so the pages failed to rank higher on SERPs.
Additionally, some of the pages had similar titles, and they were targeting similar keywords. Since the keyword cannibalization issue was apparent, our team worked closely with the CBD Dog Health team to break down the details of the product and map the right keywords to the corresponding product pages.
We also identified a few keywords within striking distance that in fact, were not used within the content. Additionally, we also found issues within the structuring of the content wherein the hedging tags weren’t assigned correctly.

During this phase, we also consistently increased the website’s Domain Rating. CBD Dog Health had a DR of 40 in the initial days of the campaign, and now it’s just a few more days away from touching DR 50.
