The Client
A Singapore-Based Credit Scoring Fintech
The client is a Singapore-based credit scoring fintech. It reads the metadata on a smartphone or a web session, with the user’s permission, and turns it into a credit score and a set of fraud signals. Banks, lenders, and fintechs use it to say yes to borrowers who have no traditional credit file.
That work matters most in emerging markets, where a large share of people are thin file or unbanked. The product had real traction. The search footprint did not match it, and the category terms buyers actually search were held by bigger, older sites like credit bureaus and decisioning vendors.
The Challenge
Strong Product, Quiet In US Search
When the engagement started in June 2025, the site ranked on the first page of US Google for only eight non-branded keywords, and just one of those sat in the top three. Most of the terms that describe what the company sells were stuck past page five.
The link profile was growing slowly, from 365 referring domains in May to 381 at kickoff. The content on the site was not mapped to the commercial and category queries that lead to demos. Good foundations, weak signals to Google.
The Strategy
Fix The Base, Then Feed It Content And Links
We ran the program in a fixed order. Clean the technical base, publish content mapped to real search intent, then build links to give those pages authority. Every deliverable cleared client approval before it went live.
Foundation
We set up and cleaned analytics, Tag Manager, and Search Console, ran a site structure audit and a technical audit, and reviewed structured data. The site was clean to crawl and measure before a single new page shipped.
Content
Keyword research and mapping pointed every page at a real query. Pillar content on the future of credit scoring, new blogs like how to choose a credit scoring tool, and rewrites of older posts covered the category and commercial terms.
Links
A steady white-label link program lifted referring domains month after month, with a sharp climb through 2026 as the content earned its own citations.
Control
The client signed off on every deliverable before publishing. Nothing went live without approval, so quality and brand voice stayed intact from strategy through to the last rewrite.
The Results
From Eight Page-One Keywords To Fifty-Six
Over fifteen months, the link profile more than tripled and the content pushed dozens of category terms onto page one of US Google.
From 381 at kickoff to 1,233 by August 2026.
Up from 8 at kickoff, a 600 percent jump.
Up from a single keyword in June 2025.

Keyword Wins
Category Terms That Now Sit On Page One
These are the non-branded US terms that describe the client’s market. Each one moved from invisible or deep in the results to the first page, where buyers actually look.
Why It Worked
Sequence Beat Volume
The gains did not come from publishing more than everyone else. They came from order. A clean base meant Google could read the site. Content mapped to intent meant the right pages existed. Links meant those pages had the authority to hold their spots.
- Foundation first. Analytics, Search Console, structure, and technical fixes shipped before any new content.
- Content mapped to intent. Pillar and internal blogs targeted credit scoring, decisioning, and fintech fraud terms, not vanity keywords.
- Links that compounded. A steady run of guest posts lifted referring domains from 381 to 1,233, with the steepest gains in 2026.
- Approval on everything. Every placement was approved before outreach, and every deliverable cleared client sign-off before it went live.
