About the Client

Founded by Michael Grover, an ardent dog lover, Happy Fit Dog is a dedicated pet care blog that focuses on multiple verticals of dog care, including dog problems and training, dog breeds, crates and more.

Background

Backed by a few years of experience in blogging, the client was featuring high-quality content to drive traffic to their blog.

However, they saw a flat curve for two years.

So, they reached out to us at Stan Ventures.

To start with, we conducted a complete site audit and figured out that the client needed a lot of powerful backlinks to rank higher in an aggressively competitive landscape like pet care.

This is what their backlink profile looked like in May 2021.

As you can see, there were just 109 domains that linked back to their site.

In terms of organic traffic, the site was getting only 900+ monthly visitors around the same time.

Off-Page Fixes

With backlink building as the major call, we initiated the process with our outreach team.

Our outreach specialists did the groundwork and came up with a list of high DA sites in the niche to build links to the client’s site.

We sent the list of sites to the client and upon their approval, we had to create high-quality content to place the backlinks contextually.

With that, our content team ventured in to create high-quality native content that vouched for the client’s industry expertise.

Once the content was ready, we started building backlinks from those carefully handpicked sites.

To us, backlink building isn’t just about links. Another catalyst that drove results was the keywords. 

We leveraged the right keywords to create backlinks that drive results.

The site ranked for 3,064 keywords in August 2021 (which was just 1,400 in May.)

Using high-quality, user-engaging content, we were able to convince more industry-specific sites to link back to the client’s site.

In addition, we used the right anchor text to place our links to drive web traffic to the target site.

By August 2021, we were able to get 250 unique sites to link back to the target site (which was 109 three months earlier).

On-Page Recommendations

Backlink building was the major part. However, we do much more than link building and can always expand boundaries for our clients.

Standing by what we advocate, we also provided some on-page offerings to the client besides link building.

We suggested using the pillar-cluster content strategy to strengthen the site in terms of E-A-T and improve the site architecture.

Following that, our team crafted blog outlines and created content with natural keyword occurrences to be published on their blog.

Technical Fixes

Apart from building links and offering on-page recommendations, we helped the client in optimizing their site for technical SEO.

First of, performing a technical audit helped us evaluate the site’s health and make fixes accordingly.

We found out that the site’s internal linking structure needs to be strengthened and that’s one of the reasons why we recommended using the pillar-cluster content strategy.

Besides, we also came up with a few more recommendations for website speed optimization.
