A pioneering orthodontic care provider embarked on a digital transformation journey in 2022 to enhance its online visibility and attract more patients. Despite a humble beginning in 2015 with a domain rating (DR) of just 3 and 8 referring domains, the website owners recognized the untapped potential of strategic link building in boosting its Google search rankings and driving organic traffic.

Background

Initially, when we started in 2022, the online presence of the website was minimal, with only 7 referring domains contributing to its DR. Most of these early backlinks originated from directory websites offering no-follow links, which had a negligible impact on the site’s search engine optimization (SEO) performance. By January 2022, despite a slight increase in referring domains, the overall domain rating remained low at DR 7, underscoring the need for a more targeted SEO strategy.

Phase 1: Building DR 10 Backlinks (July 2022 – January 2023)

  • Approach: The initial strategy focused on acquiring backlinks from websites with a Domain Authority (DR) of 10. This approach aimed to steadily improve the website’s domain rating by leveraging the SEO value of these backlinks.
  • Results: The website secured 24 DR 10 backlinks over six months, elevating its DR from 7 to 18.

  • Concurrently, organic traffic surged from 69 to 154 monthly visits, with a notable increase in keywords ranking on Google.

Outcome of Phase 1

  • Traffic and Engagement: By July 2023, the website achieved an all-time high in organic traffic, with 339 visits, maintaining a consistent monthly traffic of 250+ visits after that.

  • Keyword Performance: The strategy led to a consistent month-on-month increase in ranking keywords, particularly those crucial for orthodontic services.
  • Client Impact: The direct business impact was unmistakable, with increased patient appointments booked through the website.

Phase 2: Upgrading to DR 20+ Backlinks (January 2023 till 2024 March)

  • Strategic Shift: With visible improvements in traffic and rankings, the strategy pivoted to acquiring backlinks from DR 20+ sites.
  • Notable Growth: We built 30 DR 20 backlinks This shift increased DR from 16 to 22 within two months, further solidifying the site’s authority and search visibility.
  • Unexpected Benefits: Several DR 20 sites evolved into DR 30+ domains, amplifying the value of the backlinks acquired and underscoring the importance of selecting sites with growth potential.

  • Traffic Improvement: Organic traffic surged from 154 monthly visits to an average of 270+, and keywords ranked on Google increased significantly.
