Low Top-3 Rankings
Wise Pelican was struggling to rank in the top 3 positions on Google for high-intent, transactional and commercial keywords related to its small business and real estate direct mail services.
This meant that even for searches where potential customers were ready to buy (e.g. “real estate direct mail postcards”), Wise Pelican’s site was appearing below key competitors, resulting in lost traffic and leads.
Lack of Authority & Suboptimal Site Structure
The website’s product pages lacked authority, and its overall site structure was not optimized for SEO.
In practice, this meant few high-quality websites were linking to Wise Pelican’s product pages (low backlink count), and the site’s information architecture and internal linking were making it harder for search engines to crawl and index important content.
These factors combined to limit Wise Pelican’s organic visibility for its target keywords.
Solution Provided by Stan Ventures
Stan Ventures deployed a focused link-building strategy to boost the authority of Wise Pelican’s product pages.
This involved a mix of guest posting (publishing informative articles on relevant third-party blogs with backlinks to Wise Pelican) and niche edits (adding contextual links to Wise Pelican on existing high-quality content).
These backlinks were carefully targeted to product and category pages that needed ranking improvements, resulting in increased Domain Rating and a stronger backlink profile for those pages.
Results
Higher Domain Authority: Wise Pelican’s Domain Rating (DR) – an Ahrefs metric reflecting backlink authority – jumped from 53 to 64 between May 2022 and April 2025. This significant increase in DR indicates a much stronger overall link profile and domain authority.
Surge in Backlinks and Referring Domains: The number of websites linking to Wise Pelican skyrocketed. Referring domains grew by about 1,800, and total backlinks grew by approximately 4,800 over the engagement period.
(In May 2022, Wise Pelican had ~600 referring domains and ~2,300 backlinks; by April 2025 this reached ~2,400 referring domains and ~7,100 backlinks.)
These new inbound links boosted the site’s credibility in Google’s eyes and directly contributed to higher rankings for competitive terms.
Expanded Keyword Rankings: Wise Pelican saw a dramatic rise in the volume of keywords for which it ranks on Google. The site’s organic keyword count (number of search queries where the site appears in results) rose by about 2,000 – from roughly 3,000 to 5,000 keywords.
More importantly, the number of keywords ranking in the top 3 positions grew by 205, climbing from 150 to 450 top-3 rankings. In other words, the SEO campaign not only increased overall visibility for many more terms, but also pushed a large number of important keywords into the coveted top spots on the search results page.
Traffic Growth: As a direct result of improved rankings, Wise Pelican’s organic traffic climbed steadily. Monthly organic visits grew from around 6,000 in early 2022 to about 8,770 by March 2025 – roughly a 45% increase in organic traffic.
This uplift means more potential customers are finding Wise Pelican’s website through search engines than ever before.
Improved Organic Value: The estimated organic search traffic value (an Ahrefs estimate of the equivalent cost if that traffic was acquired via Google Ads) increased by $11.8K over the campaign period – rising from approximately $23.5K to $35.3K. This indicates that the traffic Wise Pelican now earns organically is significantly more valuable, reflecting higher conversions and more intent-driven visitors coming to the site.
