Client: A US-based Legal Technology Company specializing in eDiscovery, Litigation Support, and Data Governance

Industry: Legal Tech, eDiscovery, Cybersecurity-Compliant SaaS

Growth Brief: Since partnering with Stan Ventures, this client has achieved a +164% increase in referring domains, added 10.8K backlinks, more than doubled organic traffic, and now ranks in the Top 3 positions for 68 keywords, including several high-conversion legal search terms.

Overview

The client is a leading provider of cloud-based legal discovery and eDiscovery solutions, serving law firms, corporations, and government agencies with a secure, AI-powered platform.

In June 2022, they partnered with Stan Ventures to expand their organic search presence in a highly competitive legal SaaS market. 

The goal was to boost their website’s visibility and trust among legal professionals who are often resistant to new tech, by ranking for high-intent keywords like “ediscovery software” and related terms. 

Over the course of the engagement, Stan Ventures implemented a comprehensive SEO strategy encompassing on-page optimization, technical fixes, authority-building link outreach, and content enhancements.

The result? 

Their website achieved significant SEO gains: higher search rankings for target keywords, a dramatic increase in organic traffic and domain authority, and improved engagement on a key conversion page – all while maintaining strict compliance with cybersecurity and data protection standards crucial to their industry.

Challenges

Entering the engagement, they faced several key challenges in growing their organic presence: 

Tough Competition: The legal tech and eDiscovery niche is dominated by well-established, legacy players. Competing against these incumbents for SERP real estate (search engine results page) required a targeted strategy.

High-Intent Keyword Targets: They needed to rank for competitive, high-commercial-intent keywords such as “ediscovery software,” “legal discovery platform,” and other terms prospective clients search when evaluating solutions. 

These keywords had substantial search volume and buyer intent, but were also contested by rivals. 

Strict Compliance Requirements: Any SEO and content efforts had to align with stringent cybersecurity and data protection standards. 

As a legal SaaS handling sensitive data, their content and site optimizations needed to maintain trust, accuracy, and compliance (e.g. proper handling of security credentials, privacy policy, etc.).

Skeptical Audience: The target audience—lawyers and legal teams—can be resistant to adopting new technology. 

Building trust and authority organically was essential. 

Their content had to educate and reassure this audience, positioning the brand as a credible, secure solution in eDiscovery.

These challenges set a high bar for the SEO campaign.

Stan Ventures had to improve rankings and traffic without compromising on content quality or security compliance, and while going head-to-head with industry giants in search results.

Our SEO Strategy

To tackle the challenges, Stan Ventures deployed a full-service Managed SEO strategy. This integrated approach covered on-page improvements, technical SEO fixes, authoritative link building, and content strategy. Key components of the solution included:

On-Page SEO Optimization: Stan Ventures overhauled the on-page elements to ensure they were laser-focused on legal tech keywords. 

This involved restructuring metadata (titles, meta descriptions) to target relevant terms, optimizing page headings and subheads, and refining on-page copy with semantic keywords. 

Strategic landing pages (like the eDiscovery Solutions page) were revamped to align with search intent, featuring clear value propositions and calls-to-action for legal audiences.

Technical SEO Enhancements: The team conducted a thorough technical audit and implemented fixes to improve site health and performance. 

They focused on Core Web Vitals (speed, responsiveness, and stability) to ensure fast load times, tightened up site security with HTTPS across the board, and improved crawlability by refining the robots.txt and XML sitemap. 

They also implemented structured data (schema markup) relevant to software and legal services, and fixed indexation issues that were preventing certain pages from appearing in Google’s index. 

These technical upgrades not only boosted SEO but also reinforced the website’s credibility (a well-structured, secure site is crucial for legal tech users).

Off-Page SEO & Link Building: To elevate their domain authority in the eyes of search engines, Stan Ventures executed a robust link building campaign. 

Over the engagement, they acquired 10.8K new backlinks from diverse sources and secured 363 new referring domains. This was achieved through white-hat methods like guest posting on industry blogs, niche edits (contextual backlinks within relevant legal/tech articles), and manual outreach. 

The backlink profile growth helped signal to Google that the website is an authoritative player in eDiscovery. Each link was built with quality in mind – focusing on legal tech publications, cybersecurity blogs, and SaaS review sites to ensure relevance and trustworthiness.

Content Strategy & Blogging: Recognizing that content would play a pivotal role in engaging cautious audience, Stan Ventures provided ongoing content support. 

They delivered data-driven content briefs and topics aligned with both informational and commercial intent. For example, content pieces like “eDiscovery Compliance Checklist” and “Litigation Support Tools Guide” were developed to attract and educate potential clients. 

This content not only targeted long-tail keywords for SEO, but also served to build thought leadership, addressing common pain points and questions legal teams have about eDiscovery and data compliance. 

All content was crafted to reflect the expertise and strict compliance stance (e.g. emphasizing security certifications, regulatory compliance features of their software).

By combining these efforts, Stan Ventures created a synergistic SEO campaign – improving relevance (on-page content), technical foundation (site health), authority (backlinks), and user engagement (quality content). This holistic approach was necessary to move the needle in a competitive space.

Domain Rating (DR) 35 ➜ 44 (increase of +9):

Ahrefs Domain Rating, an indicator of backlink authority, climbed 9 points, reflecting a stronger overall link profile.

Referring Domains: 221 ➜ 585 (+164% increase):

The number of unique websites linking to them more than doubled. This expansion in referring domains was critical for improving authority and trust.

Backlinks: 1.9K ➜ 12.7K (net gain of +10.8K backlinks):

The total backlinks grew over sixfold. Thousands of new inbound links were earned through outreach and content marketing, vastly expanding their online footprint.

Ranking Keywords (Organic Keywords): ~906 ➜ 1,429 (increase of +523 keywords)

The site grew its keyword portfolio significantly. By March 2025, the website was ranking for 1,429 keywords in Google (up from around 900), including many high-value terms. Of these, 68 keywords rank in the Top 3 positions (page 1, top spots) and 233 keywords rank on the first page (positions 4–10). This demonstrates improved visibility for a broad set of relevant queries.

Monthly Organic Traffic: ~1,200 ➜ ~2,500 (increase of +1,372, roughly +114%): 

Monthly organic visits more than doubled. By leveraging SEO best practices, the website went from about 1.2K organic visitors a month to over 2.5K. This means more than twice as many potential customers are now discovering the website through search each month.

Organic Traffic Value: $2.6K ➜ $8.3K (increase of +$5.7K):

The estimated value of their organic traffic (what it would cost per month to acquire those visits via paid ads) jumped to $8.3K. This +219% increase underscores the ROI of the SEO campaign – effectively getting ~$8K worth of monthly traffic for free by ranking organically, up from ~$2.6K worth at the start.

Snapshot of their domain-level SEO metrics (Ahrefs, June 2022 vs. March 2025). Domain Rating improved from 35 to 44, backed by a surge in backlinks (12.7K total, +10.8K). Referring domains climbed to 584 (from 221), and organic traffic value reached $8.3K/month (up by $5.7K), reflecting the significant boost in search visibility and authority.

As shown above, all key SEO metrics trended upward thanks to Stan Ventures’ efforts. Notably, the growth in referring domains and backlinks (visualized in the “Backlink profile” metrics) was a major factor in lifting Domain Rating and trust in Google’s eyes. 

The increase in ranking keywords, especially those now in top 3 positions, led directly to higher traffic and traffic value.

Organic Traffic Growth (and Temporary Dip)

One of the most telling indicators of success is the organic traffic trend over time. The graph below illustrates organic traffic growth from the start of the campaign through March 2025:

Organic traffic growth for the website (average monthly organic visits, Jul 2022 – Mar 2025). Traffic increased from roughly 1.2K to 2.57K per month over the period. A planned dip in late 2023 corresponds to a strategic site redesign, after which organic traffic rebounded strongly to new highs by early 2025.

Despite the overall positive trajectory, you’ll notice a dip in traffic between October 2023 and February 2024. This was an anticipated temporary decline during a comprehensive website redesign and content overhaul. 

Rather than a sign of trouble, this dip was a calculated move: Stan Ventures worked together with them to revamp the site architecture and user experience, knowing it might momentarily affect rankings. 

Stan Ventures supported this transition by ensuring proper 301 redirects, preserving link equity, and quickly updating Google on the new site structure. As expected, by March 2024, organic traffic had rebounded to pre-redesign levels and then continued to climb even higher. 

The rapid recovery and subsequent growth demonstrated the resilience of the SEO foundation – the site could undergo major improvements and still maintain its SEO gains long-term.

Conversion Page Success: eDiscovery Solutions

In addition to domain-wide improvements, a special focus was given to their key conversion page – the eDiscovery Software Solutions page. 

This is a cornerstone landing page targeting the term “eDiscovery software” and related keywords, critical for attracting and converting prospects. Stan Ventures’ strategy of on-page optimization, content refinement, and targeted link building paid off substantially for this page.

Performance highlights for the eDiscovery Solutions page (June 2022 vs. March 2025):

Backlinks to the Page: 49 backlinks (up from just 4 initially, +45 new backlinks). These links were acquired through targeted outreach, pointing directly to the eDiscovery page from relevant legal tech articles and blogs, boosting its authority for the topic.

Referring Domains to the Page: 40 domains (up from 4, +36 unique domains linking). Gaining links from 36 additional reputable websites significantly increased this page’s credibility in Google’s algorithm.

Ranking Keywords (Page-specific): 108 keywords (up from 48, +60). The eDiscovery page dramatically expanded the number of search queries it ranks for. Importantly, about 30 of these keywords now rank in the Top 3 positions on Google, making the website highly visible for a variety of eDiscovery-related searches.

Organic Traffic (Page): 190 monthly visits (up from 35, +155). As of March 2025, this single page draws nearly 200 organic visitors a month, a >5x increase, indicating its improved prominence in search results.

Traffic Value (Page): $1.3K/month (up from ~$200, +$1.1K). The traffic to this page is not only higher in volume but also in value – it would cost $1.3K per month to get this traffic via paid ads. This underscores how the SEO work turned the page into a valuable asset.

The page’s metrics saw a sharp rise: 49 backlinks from 40 domains, 108 ranking keywords (with 30 in top 3), and an estimated 190 organic visits/month (valued at $1.3K). These gains highlight the success of focused on-page SEO and content optimization for a high-converting page.

Thanks to these improvements, the eDiscovery Solutions page became a powerful lead generator. It now ranks on the first page of Google for multiple lucrative keywords, directly driving qualified traffic looking for eDiscovery software solutions. 

This is especially important in the legal tech space, where getting a prospect onto a relevant landing page with strong content can make the difference in nurturing a lead. 

By combining content relevance, technical SEO, and backlinks for this page, Stan Ventures helped them capture demand that was previously going to competitors.

Top Ranking Keywords for the eDiscovery Page

All of the above keywords have significant search volume and indicate a searcher looking for solutions in eDiscovery. Achieving Position 7 for these terms means their page appears on the first page of results, often just a few spots away from the very top. 

This is a notable achievement given the strength of competitors in this space. It not only drives traffic but also lends credibility – appearing alongside well-known competitors in search results signals to users that they are a major player in the industry. 

As Stan Ventures continues the SEO campaign, the aim is to push these rankings even higher (into the top 3), which would exponentially increase the traffic and lead flow from these terms.
