Challenge
Babymychi is a fairly new affiliate marketing website that focuses on providing insightful content for expectant mothers and new parents.
Essentially, Babymychii is a blog that offers readers in-depth reviews of kids accessories and strollers. The intent of the website is to help the new parents make an informed decision when buying stuff online. Apart from this, the site also offers stunning ideas to make the gender reveal memorable.
Started in April 2021, the website saw little to no organic traction in the initial few months. This was after they published a handful of blog posts, which had some great information to share with the target audience.
However, with people not visiting the site, these great resources waited for their takers.
That wait was over when Babymychii found Stan Ventures as the trusted SEO partner.
Solution
When Babymychii approached Stan Ventures in June 2021, all they wanted was to build backlinks. That’s what most website owners initially ask for.
However, we did a complete audit of the website and found page experience, on-page, and a few other technical issues within the website. We walked the Babymychii team through these other important SEO aspects that needed to be fixed before backlinks can come into the picture.
However, at least for the initial few months, Babymychii just wanted us to build backlinks.
So we did. Here’s what happened even after we built very high-quality backlinks using our tried and tested manual outreach strategy.
As you can see, the referring domains have increased, and this should have increased their traffic and rankings, right?
But it didn’t.

What this means is backlinks will help only if your website has
- Quality Content that Adds Value
- Offers Better User Experience
- Flawless Technical Architecture
Unfortunately, with Babymychii, this wasn’t the case.
- They definitely had quality content but it wasn’t organized and it lacked hierarchy.
- CoreWeb Vitals report failed, which essentially means the site wasn’t offering a great user experience.
- We found orphan pages and multiple versions of the same page indexed on Google.
The Babymychii team wasn’t happy, and rightly so because they thought building backlinks was a panacea to rank higher on Google.
We discussed it with the team at Babymychii once again and this time around, they understood the gravity of the issues that are under the hood and decided to bridge that gap once and for all.
Solution
We focus on delivering a sustainable solution for our clients and that’s why we first decided to work on optimizing the page speed and site architecture. Once we fixed those intricate aspects of the website, we went ahead with content creation, on-page, and off-page optimization.
Site Architecture
The next in our to-do list was to optimize the site architecture. With blogs being published without proper categorization, the website lacked page hierarchy.
We decided to implement our marque pillar-cluster strategy to make sure both category and blog pages complement each other.
In this case, we decided to make category pages pillar and then supplement it with cluster blogs that are highly relevant. Here is what the blog architecture looked like for each category.
During this process, we also helped the Babymychii team to tweak their design to accommodate the changes we suggested.
Page Speed
The mobile page experience of Babymychii was below average and we knew it was hurting the growth of the website badly as some of the keywords that ranked higher on desktop results weren’t showing up on mobile devices.
Even though the desktop performance of the site was good, we found that a few speed optimization measures that we implement for mobiles can further improve desktop speed.
Here is what the score looked like before we optimized the speed.

Content Creation
With speed and site architecture nailed to perfection. We went ahead with content creation.
Pillar topics and relevant clusters were created based on our in-depth audience research. Each of these topics addressed the pain points of the targets so that Babymychii received more intent-oriented users.
We ensured the pillar pages had content that took a holistic approach whereas the clusters took a deeper dive into multiple aspects within the same topic.
The pillar and cluster pages were linked internally using contextual anchors to give users and Google more relevancy. This has proved successful for many of Stan’s clients in the past years as well.

On-Page SEO
With the content ready for pillar and cluster pages, we started optimizing the content for higher rankings.
We found the right keywords to target for each page and strategically placed images within the blogs. Also, the Alt text of the image and the file size were optimized.
Relevant meta titles and descriptions were added and the blogs were published.
Link Building
Since we were already building backlinks for Babymychii, we continued with it. However, this time, the focus was more on ranking the new pillar and cluster pages.
We ensured that the backlinks are built only from sites with genuine organic traffic and also with DR above 30.

Over a period of 6 months, we built 85+ high-authority backlinks, and these backlinks were placed on highly relevant lifestyle websites.
Results
As we said before, the initial three months after Babymychii signed up was when the focus was only on building backlinks, and the results were unimpressive.
However, when we fixed all other SEO aspects including, site architecture, speed, on-page, and content optimization, the website now had the fuel to reach the top of Google search.
The very next month after we fixed all under-the-hood issues of Babymychii, the traffic started to steadily grow.
The keyword rankings saw massive improvement and not surprisingly, most of the keywords we targeted while building backlinks now showed signs of great improvement. 20 of them breaking into the Top three positions of Google and another 53 ranking on the first page.
As of February 2022, Babymychii saw a 10x increase in their organic traffic and it continues to rise at speeds that they never expected it would.
You can see that traffic spiking in the month of October. That was around the same time when we implemented the SEO fixes and rolled the pillar-cluster model live.
“We are very happy with the traffic improvement, but what’s more exciting is it also helped in increasing our affiliate revenue. We saw a 93% increase in affiliate income and we believe these guys have cemented the foundation for us to set eyes on bigger targets,” said the founder.
Babymychii continues to invest with us to achieve their SEO goals, and we look forward to talking. This is just the beginning of a long journey.
